Inheriting land enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Program presented initial complexities, but Ben's experience with State, Federal, and local resources was instrumental in developing a worthwhile farming operation. We started with corn and bean rotations, which provided good early returns. Ben then skillfully arranged a contract with a local Alfalfa producer when we decided to dedicate the entire farm to hay production. This allowed me the opportunity to address drainage system renovations. Knowing Ben was diligently handling the business details was a tremendous asset. Ben represented the sale of the land at auction and, undoubtedly, his management contributed to a higher land sale price.
